What are checkweighing scales used for?

Checkweighing scales, also known as checkweighers, are used to streamline the process of ensuring the item being weighed is the correct weight. They allow the user to set a maximum weight and a minimum weight - the difference in between is the weight a given product needs to be. For example, weighing items after manufacturing, prior to despatch.

Different weighing scale models have different ways of indicating the upper and lower limits, some checkweighing scales show the limits as lights (red, amber, green). Others give audible signals and some give a bar graph on their graphical displays. Models like Adam Equipment's AGB and AGF bench and floor scales have a colour-changing backlight - so the whole display changes colour in accordance with whether the item is above, below or within the pre-set limits.

Checkweighing scales can be commonly found in production lines, used to ensure filling and packaging machines are producing packed goods at the correct weights. Some of these scales do need to be trade approved, if the weight of an item determines its price. We have trade approved scales available - please ask if you need help with choosing the right model for your needs.
